In an effort to have more fun, I have decided to upload a 2 minute podcast every day of the week starting later today. I have been running my career somewhat like a 9-5 job. On a good day, I'll wake up at 6am, grab coffee and a book and fuel my mind with things like Bob Dylan's autobiography, Steinbeck's Cannery Row(which is a dangerous early morning book because it is so beautiful it puts me to sleep), or some Malcolm Gladwell. After a good couple hours of caffeinating and reading, I walk a couple of blocks down to my practice space in the basement of a 19th century warehouse that has been converted into lofts. I write there, I run scales, I make jokes to myself. Everything within the realm of music or life is permissible in this space. So often I'll record a slip of something I think sounds good while I'm down there. I have decided that I want to share these moments with you daily. I want to encourage you to enjoy them with me. Listen, tell me what you think, record a response, draw a picture about how it feels to you, so we can increase our influence on each other and inspire a more fun and fulfilling creative life.
Today I'll post in the afternoon but in the future I'll try to post it in the morning so you early birds will have something to wake up to. I may build a site soon to host the podcasts but for now you can find them every day here on my blog, along with a paragraph or two of my daily thoughts.
Starting small, I look forward to growing with all of you.
