Beginning of Podcast Season: Episode 1

Podcast 1 by Jeremy Current

This podcast was fashioned and recorded in New Orleans this summer right after I graduated college. I took two weeks and played music, watched movies and rode my bike around the quarter. The heat was off-putting to say the least. It's hard to say how much weather affects my creativity but after a couple days of this heat and being pent up in an air conditioned apartment, I stopped recording stuff and went more often to bars and restaurants. Work time quickly transitioned into vacation and I went to the movie theatre three times in two weeks. This podcast was recorded on the first or second day I was down there.

Weekday Podcasts

In an effort to have more fun, I have decided to upload a 2 minute podcast every day of the week starting later today. I have been running my career somewhat like a 9-5 job. On a good day, I'll wake up at 6am, grab coffee and a book and fuel my mind with things like Bob Dylan's autobiography, Steinbeck's Cannery Row(which is a dangerous early morning book because it is so beautiful it puts me to sleep), or some Malcolm Gladwell. After a good couple hours of caffeinating and reading, I walk a couple of blocks down to my practice space in the basement of a 19th century warehouse that has been converted into lofts. I write there, I run scales, I make jokes to myself. Everything within the realm of music or life is permissible in this space. So often I'll record a slip of something I think sounds good while I'm down there. I have decided that I want to share these moments with you daily. I want to encourage you to enjoy them with me. Listen, tell me what you think, record a response, draw a picture about how it feels to you, so we can increase our influence on each other and inspire a more fun and fulfilling creative life.

Today I'll post in the afternoon but in the future I'll try to post it in the morning so you early birds will have something to wake up to. I may build a site soon to host the podcasts but for now you can find them every day here on my blog, along with a paragraph or two of my daily thoughts.

Starting small, I look forward to growing with all of you.

Free People

I had the pleasure of performing at Free People in SoHo last night for Fashion's Night Out. It was crazy busy. There were endless streams of young women coming in the doors. Here is an interview with me that Free People posted on their blog the day before the show.

And here is a picture of me in a hot tub.

Hey lovers,

I am being featured today on a live music video site called BalconyTV. They film people playing their songs on assorted balconies at Hard Rock Cafes all over the world. Mine was filmed in Nashville, TN. I played Mile Long Driveway. Hope you enjoy the video:

Free CD Giveaway

I am moving to New York at the end of this month. In honor of my new apartment, #15, I will mail these 15 packaged CDs to the first 15 people to submit an address.

Because most of you reading this will already own a copy of my new album, "Dark Land of the Sun," I would like you to take a minute and think of a person in your life that would be thrilled to get a CD they've never heard before in the mail.

You can either comment on this post with the address or email it to me at:

sharetheroadrecords (at) gmail (dot) com

Love to all of you,

Jeremy

UPDATE: This offer has expired and all 15 CDs have been mailed out. Thanks!
